LIMESTONE
Johnston Quarry Group purchased Creeton Quarry in October 2006. A truly significant and important seventy acre asset with over 6.5million tons of remaining consented reserves, the quarry had suffered from several recent years of investment, marketing and management neglect.
Originally opened in 1926, the quarry had always supplied a considerable quantity of block stone used widely across England. The principle geology of the quarry consists of limestone beds of the Middle Jurassic Lincolnshire limestone formation. The quarry has been designed and is worked to produce three distinctive block beds all available in large volumes – Creeton Banded, Hard White and Silver Bed.

As the quarry is benched and progressively worked, the quality of the block is improving further, showing its noted good structure and stone characteristics whilst further detailed quarrying and associated investment looks set to secure Creeton as one of the major UK limestone block reserves.
